While on a motorcycle ride around the Taos area a couple of weeks ago, by K1200LT developed a fuel leak. I phoned Santa Fe BMW and spoke with Cameron Weckerley, describing the symptom and asking for his help. He quickly replied that it was almost certainly a failure of the plastic quick-disconnect fittings used on my, and other, BMW motorcycles. He also verified that they had the parts in stock and could make the repair in about an hour. Since it was only 2:pm we headed for Santa Fe post haste. I phoned Cameron and he recommended a tow company. And he assured me that a technician was willing to stay and make the repair. The recommended tow company could not get to me for some time, so he
recommended another, closer, company. Unfortunately, (my day for bad luck!) the second tow company was some late, and poorly equipped to secure the bike. After several mishaps and delays, we finally arrived at Santa Fe BMW and there was Cameron, still waiting to accept the bike and secure it for the night. By this time, the technician could stay no longer, but Cameron assured me they would get to it first thing next morning. The parts manager was also there to assist. And they did get right on it the next morning, getting me back on the road by noon. The technician was excellent, showing me the broken and replacement parts, checking for additional tow damage, and test riding the bike. (Sorry, I
don’t remember his name.)
I call this excellent service, a rare thing these days. I was on the phone with Cameron numerous times and he was always supportive and helpful. His empathy for a rider out of commission on the road was exemplary. It was not an inexpensive repair, but my confidence in the integrity of the work as well as the superlative service and assistance was well worth it. I have high praise for you, Cameron, and everyone else responsible for a fine, fine service department. Keep up the good work excellent organization.
